Gonna warn you, the book is verrrrry different from the movie (as usually happens). I saw the movie first, wasn't terribly impressed, though I thought the score was to die for, and then read the book. It was interesting. I'm not sure what to think of it. I liked it better than the movie. And the author Evelyn Waugh has a very nice style.
The thing that's missing from the movie that was such a big focus on the book is Catholicism. I mean, it's in the movie, but it is featured so much more prominently in the novel, just all of these people's struggle with belief and unbelief and how those beliefs and traditions shape their lives and the lives of those around them. Like I said, it's very interesting.
