don't ship Ten/Reinette. I just really love Sophia Myles. And also, the black and white coloring I did makes the episode look like an old B-movie. It's kind of fantastic.

Despite this being the longest picspam I've ever done, I actually
![]() ![]() Reinette: Monsieur, be careful! Doctor: It's just a nightmare, Reinette, don't worry, everyone has nightmares. Even monsters under the bed have nightmares! Reinette: What do monsters have nightmares about? Doctor: Me! How much do I love little!Reinette? I mean, she turns around, sees the hideous clown monster, and doesn't even flinch. ![]() ![]() ![]() I can assure you that even though some of these caps look exactly the same, they are, in fact, a tiny bit different. Also, I totally adore the Doctor's body language here. Even when he gets into the snoggage he still has his arms in this wonderfully awkward position against the fireplace. ![]() Doctor: Poisson? No, no, no way, Reinette Poisson? Later Madame D'Etoiles, later still mistress of Louis the XV, uncrowned Queen of French? Actress, artist, musician, dancer, courtesan. Fantastic gardener! Random Dude: Who the hell are you? Doctor: I'm the Doctor, and I just snogged Madame de Pompadour! DAVID TENNANT, MARRY ME PLZ. ![]() ![]() Reinette: One may tolerate a world of demons for the sake of an angel. Rose: Are you okay? Reinette: No, I'm not. But you and I both know, don't we, Rose, that the Doctor is worth the monsters. It's like Sarah Jane said, some things are worth getting your heart broken for. Every Companion, every woman who has ever loved the Doctor, knows this. ![]() Reinette: Would everyone just please calm down. Such a commotion, such distressing noise! Kindly remember that this is Versailles. This is the royal court, and we are French. I have made a decision. And my decision is no. I have seen your world, and I do not desire to set foot there again. If I hadn't already been in love with Reinette, I would have fallen head-over-heels right here. This women gets shit done. But alas, here's where I start to disagree with this episode. I can buy that Reinette falls in love with the Doctor. This is her hero, the one who saves her time and time again. Who wouldn't be in love? I can even buy that the Doctor falls a little in love with Reinette. What I absolutely, under no circumstances cannot buy is that the Doctor would willingly abandon Rose and Mickey (what were they to do? They can't fly the motherfucking TARDIS without him.), just for Reinette. And Rose. Rose is heartbroken. Just last week she met Sarah Jane, a Companion the Doctor left behind, and here she is: getting left behind herself. Just another girl to be forgotten. ![]() Doctor: Wish me luck! Reinette: No. And it's Reinette who saves the day. Beautiful, lovely, Reinette, who's so in love with the Doctor that she lets him go. And then the Doctor invites her to go see the stars with him, and it's so, so, sad, because this week he keeps forgetting the nature of the Time Lord. He can walk in and out of her life, but she has to take the slow path. (You can spend the rest of your life with me. But I can't spend the rest of mine with you. I have to live on, alone. That's the curse of the Timelords.) |
