WOW. Just...wow. Guys, if you haven't given Veronica Mars a chance, do me a favor and just try out the first five or six episodes. The first season blew me out of the freaking water with a mix of snappy writing, stunning color, and emotion. VM is like a fantastic mix of three or four of my favorite shows, but has the strongest connections to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (kickass, little blonde takes down the bad guys) and Gossip Girl (Veronica's relationships to Duncan and Logan especially, but also the slight similarities between the UESers and the 09ers). However, I find the way Veronica solves mysteries to have less of an Alias feel and more like this awesome mashup between Chuck, Psych, and Supernatural.

Anyway, if you're even slightly interested, drop me a comment and I'll link you!

Shallowness. THE PRETTY OF THIS SHOW CONSUMES ME. Picspam time.

Plottiness. Uh, holy shit, is all I have to say. I am very amused by the irony of my last post with regard to the fact that Aaron killed Lily. I also loved the reveal that Duncan raped Veronica. The scene where Veronica confronts him about it is especially powerful. I adored the last scene with Lily, lit with the lovely, golden glow instead of the sharp, green that came with all the Lily hallucinations this season. I was really impressed by how the writers made it nearly impossible for me to completely hate any of the characters, I mean, Lamb might stay a jackass, but he does become sort of awesome, and it's so difficult to hate Celeste for just wanting to protect Duncan, and even though Aaron is psychotic and abusive bastard, he really tried to bring his family together after Lynne died, and - just. I do not like Lianne Mars very much, though. OH, and lastly, everytime someone pulls out their phone on VM, it really bugs me because THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, EVER, AT ANY HIGH SCHOOL I'VE EVER HEARD OF. I randomly love the teacher that was all, "VERONICA, you know the school's cell phone policy. Now, give me that."

Shippiness. OK, moment of truth! I have to admit it: I am a Duncan/Veronica shipper. THEY'RE JUST SO VERY ADORABLE WHEN DUNCAN IS OFF HIS MEDS, OK? I CAN'T HELP IT. And going hand in hand with that, I...am not too fond of Logan/Veronica. Their relationship just seemed to move WAY too fast for me. I did love the adorable bathroom makeout scene in "M.A.D." (especially because it reminded me very strongly of the Chuck/Blair makeout scene in Gossip Girl's "Hi Society", right down to the "let's not tell my kind-of boyfriend/best friend about this, OK? Because that might kill him"). I just wish things had stayed like that minus all the grand declarations and stuff for a couple of episodes. I also really enjoyed Keith/Alicia; Wallace's mom is hardcore awesome. Ultimately though, my OTP is the Duncan/Veronica/Logan/Lilly quadrilateral - in pretty much all permutations, because I've found I don't really mind Logan/Veronica in fic if there is weird and complicated subtext behind it.

The Mars Family
. I was so happy that Keith was Veronica's father that I burst into tears when he whipped out the paternity test. Keith and Veronica's relationship is so freaking awesome because while not normal, it's just so supportive and stable. I do not have much to say about Keith and Veronica; basically, they stay awesome.

The Kane Family. Oh, boy. I am surprised by how much I adore the Kanes, especially considering I started off the series only liking Lilly. But God, it makes me so sad how this poor family got torn to shreds, especially seeing their flashback life. Damn.

The Echolls Family. The thing I love most about them is how despite the fact that none of the Echolls' really seem to like each other, they all love each other (well, to some degree). I really liked Logan's reaction over Trina's abusive boyfriend and how ANGRY he gets, especially given how he and Trina get along most of the time. And how after Lynne dies, Aaron attempts to try and be a good father, even though he fucks it up 90% of the time.

Other Awesome People. First, Wallace, his and Veronica's friendship is so WONDERFUL AND SUPPORTIVE. Snickerdoodles! I also really love Meg. I think Alona Tal is infinitely better on VM than on Supernatural. Mostly because her Pantene Pro-V waves of gorgeous fit in much better when she's playing an 09er. CARRIE BISHOP! Played by Leighton! Awesomely bitchy and ostracized because of a scandal with a man named Chuck! Going through hellfire for her best friend! Carrie = Blair Waldorf, y/y? Also, am very amused by the fact that Casey is Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls, and that one really artistic dude who's girlfriend was raped by her stepfather is played by Adam Kaufman, who has been on everything, ever.

LOL, I think it's hilarious how we totally never agree on ships. XD But that's all right, I do take your point, even if the development of the relationship actually did work for me in part because it was so sudden. (I know that makes no sense, but with characters as emotionally volatile as Veronica and particularly Logan, it just worked.) And I love Logan when he's a jackass as much as I love him when he's not being one -- the thing that is awesome about Logan's character is that he's ALWAYS awesome. And Jason Dohring is a fantastic actor.

. . . I also cannot get over how GORGEOUS this picspam is.

Oh, and as far as Duncan/Veronica goes -- I don't ship it, but I am totally and utterly infatuated with the whole "You raped me!" scene. PERFECTION. ♥

Jason Dohring brings it completely every time, all Logan's issues and many, many complexes are just lurking in the dialogue and his delivery. Is it completely mad that I'm considering watching Moonlight for him? PROBABLY.

Thanks! There's just so much color in VM that I can't help myself. And the caps themselves are unbelievably gorgeous. My coloring was basically just Curves, some Color Balance, and then a Levels layer.

RIGHT? And just when you think things can't possibly get worse for them, there's Celeste lurking in the corner! All the emotion in that scene KILLS ME every time.
